“India remains a beacon of growth opportunities for Marriott International,” stated Rajeev Menon, President of Asia Pacific excluding China for the world’s largest hotel chain in terms of the number of rooms. He noted that approximately 80% of the new deals in India are in the luxury and premium segments, a shift from pre-pandemic trends. “Before the pandemic, our focus was on upscale segments and brands like Courtyard and Fairfield by Marriott,” Menon explained. “Having been present in this country for 25 years, we are set to open our 150th Marriott hotel in Katra next month, close to the Vaishno Devi temple. This will mark the debut of a five-star hotel in Katra.” Menon went on to announce further expansions: “We have recently finalized a new JW Marriott Resort & Spa property in Alibag. Additionally, the Ritz Carlton hotel we recently secured in Jaipur will be an impressive addition, featuring 250 keys spread across 43 acres of land. With over 80 hotels currently under construction, we are well-positioned to operate a total of 250 hotels and offer 50,000 keys in India within the next five years,” he concluded.
