The employability in Manipur has been furnished through the Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC) under the HSRT (Hunar Se Rozgar Tak) program being run by the Ministry of Tourism. THSC has recently conducted online placement drives in association with Primero Skills for six districts and placed more than 160 students to PVR Inox, Barbeque Nation, Quess Corporation, Compass Group, etc.
These placement initiatives were aimed at filling the gap between skills training and employment by preparing students with relevant employer needs and linking them to respective jobs.
Speaking about the success of these initiatives, Rajan Bahadur, CEO of THSC, lauded the students’ efforts:
We are particularly very proud of the students from Manipur who have demonstrated these meaningful career pursuits despite the many challenges they have had to go through. What they found is the potential for skill training to turn around the lives of people and even communities as a whole.
In this case, the best approach to preparing the youthful generation for the dynamic industries such as tourism and hospitality remains the sole focus at THSC.
He further emphasised the importance of addressing workforce demands in the industry:
‘These placements are a testament to the preparedness of our students while also proudly proving the assurances to industries of skilled talent upon graduating from our institutions. Thus, by offering skills and training for people, we want to give hope, help them grow and create a better economy, plus develop positive and lasting change for the young generation in order to provide them and their families with better lives.
Youth Employment Skills Training
It has been instrumental working with Primero Skills to ensure that the established training modules were targeting the right areas of employment and transitioning from training to employment.
This targeted approach not only boosted the confidence of participants but also opened pathways to financial independence, particularly for those hailing from economically vulnerable backgrounds.
The HSRT program’s emphasis on practical training and job readiness played a key role in these successes. By nurturing talents in tourism and hospitality—a sector known for its dynamic opportunities—THSC is actively contributing to regional development in Manipur.
These placement drives reflect the broader vision of HSRT to drive economic growth in regions like Manipur. By addressing the employment challenges faced by local youth, such initiatives foster self-reliance and resilience in communities while fulfilling workforce demands in growing tourism and hospitality sectors in India.
